Valero has fueled some amazing young minds this summer by helping start the “Valero Young Scientists Program" at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute (Texas Biomed) in San Antonio, Texas.

Nearly 40 high school juniors and seniors were accepted into the program where they worked and learned from instructors, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and researchers at Texas Biomed in an immersive four-week program. For the first time ever, Texas Biomed allowed students to come on-site and participate in various hands-on laboratory experiments and research projects that mirror the work of real scientists. During the program, the students collaborated with instructors and peers to develop the fundamental skills necessary to pursue careers in STEM, and become the next generation of scientists. Also, students participated in Prepping for Your Future sessions where they engaged in networking activities and developed communication and presentation skills.

Valero is proud to support enriching educational experiences for students.
