Training Valero's Emergency Response Team in Support of Goal Zero Progam
As part of the Valero Emergency Response Team (ERT), members are trained to be prepared for a variety of scenarios. Recently, 93 ERT members from 11 Valero refineries participated in the Corporate Rescue School led by RNR Rescue at the Petzl Training Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah.
New and experienced ERT members were immersed in a week-long program that included training on new techniques with equipment designed to make performing rescues more efficient during challenging scenarios.
This program was an opportunity for team members to expand their skills, share information from past experiences, and mentor new members of Valero's ERT. At Valero, emergency response teams have to build strong relationships with outside response personnel and practice regular drills and assessments to promote response readiness, in support of Valero’s Goal Zero program.
